Neiman Marcus Cookies

I recently made a new acquaintance in my life. Would you like to meet him?

Here he is. His name is Neiman Marcus cookie.

Are you staring?? That is rude! You are embarrassing me.

It's okay, I was in awe too. This is seriously, one of the BEST cookies I have had in a looong time. There is no way I couldn't share the recipe with you. I am very excited about this!

You might've heard of Neiman Marcus cookies before, and I've actually had a few different versions of it, but this one is by far my favorite. There is a "mysterious" rumor surrounding the cookie that tells of a woman who called Neiman Marcus years ago to see about buying the recipe. She thought she was paying $2.50 for it when really her credit card was charged $250. I find this hard to believe since, as I already stated, I have had different versions of this recipe. Although maybe it IS true and, like many things in history, it gets passed around and changed and ends up in my oven. The version I'm sharing with you is an ultra chocolate version and really, after reading that, do you NEED any other version??

Neiman Marcus Ultra Chocolate Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cocoa (That's right, just 1 1/2 tsp. It makes it just the right amount of chocolatey dough!)
1 1/2 cups (8 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375.
Beat butter and sugar together, then add the egg and vanilla.
Sift together the remaining dry ingredients, including the cocoa. Stir the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, then mix in the chips.
Roll into 1 inch balls. Use your fingers to flatten slightly (I didn't feel this was necessary as they spread on their own) onto a non-stick baking sheet 2 in. apart.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool for 1 1/2 minutes on sheet and then remove to cooling rack.
Store in airtight container for 4 to 5 days.

*Side Note: I have never used a non-stick baking sheet, nor would I trust one. Have you met my other dear friend parchment paper? If you've never baked cookies with parchment paper, instead of greasing the pan, you need to get some for this recipe! You will be hooked. Cookies come right off of it, and since you're not greasing the pan, it helps control the spreading so the cookies don't over take each other while baking!

Are you drooling? You should be. Do you see how many chips are in each cookie?!?!!? There are two and a half cups of chips in these babies! Mmmmmmmmm

Look at that. It's like a whole army of freaking awesome deliciousness.
