Cobbler and swan puffs and scones, oh my!

So, for my next adventure I decided to try a peach cobbler. You might be saying to yourself "What's the big deal? There's nothing exciting or daring about trying a peach cobbler." But you would be wrong! Do you know why? Because today is my wedding anniversary and this is what I got:

!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been wanting a food processor for awhile now. I'd never used one before but I keep coming across recipes that look fun and delicious and require the use of one.

Today is my actual anniversary, but I got my gift on Saturday. My husband and I have a tendancy to not wait until the actual gift-giving day to give gifts... For instance I bought his gift last Wednesday and he got it when he came home from work that same day... Christmas is torture for me by the way. All the waiting to give gifts and, even worse, waiting to open the ones that have my name on them.

I digress.

ANYWAYS! So I found this yummy looking cobbler recipe in a book called "The Art and Soul of Baking" by Sur La Table. I got it from the library! They really have every kind of book there! It's amazing!

(note all the green tabs in the book. those are the other recipes I want to try... also note the picture of my parents hugging on my cupboard door. Hi Mom and Dad!)

The crust/dough part of this cobbler was capital "D"-licious. It was a scone recipe, and I ended up having a little bit of dough left over. Say hello to two of the saddest looking scones you'll ever see in your life:

But oh my they were delightful!

The crust was fun to put on because it was a lattice, which takes a lot more explaining in writing than you'd think. It wasn't hard though :)
But apparently it was pretty intense.
Here is the finished product!!

Next time I will make the lattice longer and the dough strips thicker. I usually like more peaches in cobbler, but this crust is just so sweet and good! There should be more of it!

I ended up having a LOT of extra heavy cream. So the first solution that I thought of was creme chantilly and swan puffs!!! So I made creme chantilly and puffs.

Yeah so the swan bodies turned out, but I couldn't remember how to make a small pastry bag out of parchment paper so the heads didn't happen. They're very delicate so they require a delicate pastry bag.

I think Mike was ok without the complete swans though...
