Lo siento...

Okay look people, I know you're all thinking things like 'Oh Sandi has another blog now and she's totally sticking this one in the corner like a red headed step child' but none of that slander is true I tell you! NONE OF IT!
Here's how it all went down:
Last weekend I went home to visit my family (FUN!) and I was all set to make a patriotic cheesecake for the 4th of July and then I remembered that my brother hates anything with cream cheese in it (except lasagna) and then I remembered I'm a good sister so I made something else instead. I took pictures of the something else instead and put it on my laptop. All of a sudden, that black box thing on my laptop's power cord decided to die. Lovely. So I have a really awesome recipe to share with you (it's apple crumble pie...great heavenly goodness it was delicious...) but it will have to wait until I get my new power cord in the mail!
Until then, here is another cookie recipe I just discovered. I think this is my 4th cookie recipe post in a row...I'm sorry. I just....love cookies so much. And this one was really good! I was flipping through my favorite cookie book and came across these. I liked the title of them and the ingredients sounded yummy together. And then I mixed the dough and tasted it. I made a discovery people. If Christmas was squished into a ball and baked into a cookie, that is what I found. A cookie that tastes like CHRISTMAS!

Cinnamon Crackle Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 TB cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp ground nutmeg
2 tsp grated orange peel
1 tsp grated lemon peel
1/2 tsp salt
Additional sugar

1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, shortening, and sugars. Add egg and extracts; mix well. Combine the next 8 ingredients and gradually add to the creamed mixture.
2. Roll into 1 inch balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Yields: about 6 dozen.

*I didn't have almond extract so I just did 1 1/2 tsp vanilla. Also I didn't have an orange or a lemon, so I used orange and lemon juice. They tasted awesome with those ingredients, but I'm anxious to see how it tastes with almond!

So this is how everything is going to go down.

And here they are baked! Can you see the cinnamon flecks in it??? So much. So wonderful. So yummy.

As I was baking these, it kind of got me thinking. I don't know about y'all, but when the holidays come around and I've already got my plans made and rolling along, I find some fun recipes that I don't have time to fit in because it's so late in the season. I was wondering if y'all wanted me to share some of my favorite holiday treats with you BEFORE the holiday season. Maybe a couple a month or something up until December? Please share your thoughts with me on this in the comments :)

And now, continuing in the Christmas tradition of this post, my favorite version of my least favorite Christmas carol.
